If you've been dreaming of a holiday for the future, you're not alone. According to the latest Holiday Tracking Survey from Roy Morgan Research, holiday intention in Australia is now at a five-year high.

The results for the March 2014 quarter reveal 72 per cent of Australians are planning to take a holiday within the next 12 months. This equates to around 13.9 million people in total, and is much higher than the 67 per cent result recorded from the same quarter last year.

Medical research in Australia will receive a boost with news of a $11.4 million grant in Federal Government funding to be presented to Australian researchers.

The researchers who will receive the funding have formed partnerships with Australian community hospitals, state governments and patient representative bodies, and will aim to back research for various health issues affecting Australians.

The model, which goes by the name of Computer Health Assessment by Telephone (CHAT), is an over-the-phone and computer-based method of consulting patients who are waiting for surgery.
